How to get health advice over August bank holiday weekend

Although most legal restrictions have now been lifted, it's important to remember that COVID-19 has not gone away. If you show any symptoms of COVID-19 (a high temperature or a new, continuous cough, loss/ change in your normal sense of smell or taste) you should self-isolate and get tested immediately. More information about testing and testing sites can be found on the Oldham Council website here.

Getting two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine is still the best protection against becoming seriously ill from COVID-19. Oldham residents can check where their nearest clinic is by visiting the Oldham Council website here.

If you do feel unwell over the bank holiday weekend, there are a variety of treatment options available to you:

Pharmacy
Pharmacies offer clinical advice and over-the-counter medication for a range of minor illnesses. The full list of pharmacies in Oldham that will be open on August bank holiday can be found here. Please check the site for the latest information as it may have been updated. Other pharmacies may be open but have not notified NHS England GM office and are therefore are not included in this list.

Please also see the below image for the list of pharmacies open in Oldham – we have included some pharmacies in Manchester that are open for extended hours over the bank holiday.

NHS 111
Please visit 111.nhs.uk or call 111 if you have an urgent medical problem. It is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Out of Hours
If you have an urgent but not life-threatening medical problem over the extended bank holiday weekend, which cannot wait until your GP practice re-opens, please call NHS111 or visit www.111.nhs.uk. Following an assessment, you will receive information about the appropriate service for your health problem and you may be transferred to gtd healthcare, which provides out-of-hours services for patients.

Extended Hours
The GP Extended Hours Service is also open as usual offering a limited number of appointments for routine, non-urgent needs during Saturday & Sunday and will be running from the Integrated Care Centre (ICC)  from 10am - 2pm on bank holiday Monday.

Oldham Walk In Centre at the ICC remains CLOSED until further notice.
